Yoga in the Park is Back..

... although a little altered in concept from two years ago when I first launched the idea (see my post from 24th Nov/09 if you're interested in how it all began). But for those of you who are not familiar with what it's all about, here goes:

A group of yoga students (intent on striking yoga poses in the wild outdoors) meets at a random park within the city on a Sunday afternoon. Of course, this can only take place when and if the weather gods of Wellington see fit to grant us sunny weather. All that yoga maneuvering is then followed by a group picnic.

This Sunday I've chosen an out-of the-way spot in the Botanic Gardens most easily accessed from the Salamanca Road or east entrance of the park. Walk a few steps up towards the large Met Service building and take the first path/road on the right marked by the sign that looks like this:

You can also access the site from the cable car entrance. Just walk down the right side of the hill immediately past the Met Service building until you see two small roads on your left. Take the second one with the same sign mentioned above. Here's a link to a map of the Botanic Gardens just in case you need further instructions:

You're looking for the path called Manuka Way (reference #11 on the map).

I propose we meet there at noon for about an hour of yoga. Bring a yoga mat (unless you're content with the bare ground), some picnic food, and maybe even a friend you've always wanted to introduce to yoga. The cost is $10 per person and be sure to check the blog on the day to see if the class is actually on (weather permitting). We'll try the following Sunday if it gets cancelled.

Hope to see you there sporting some sunnies!

Una
